What is Lipids and Why Does the Cardio Zoomer Test for It?

Circulating fat-based molecules
Lipids are fat-soluble molecules in the blood—cholesterol, triglycerides, sterols—and the particles that carry them. They provide energy, build cell membranes, and support hormone and bile production. Measuring lipid amounts and particle characteristics helps reveal metabolic patterns and how cholesterol is handled in the body, which relates to long-term vascular and metabolic risk patterns.

Lipids FAQs

What is Lipids and why is it important?
Lipids are fats and fat-like substances that circulate in your blood and are carried by lipoprotein particles. They fuel cells, form membranes, and participate in hormone and bile production. How much lipid is present and the type of particles carrying it gives useful information about metabolic balance and long-term vascular patterns.
What does it mean if my Lipids levels are low?
Low lipid levels can arise for several reasons, such as low dietary intake, malabsorption, certain genetic traits, liver-related changes, or other health influences. Low values can affect how other lab markers are interpreted and should be considered alongside metabolic, inflammatory, and genetic results. A clinician will review the full panel and clinical context to understand what low lipids mean for you.
What does it mean if my Lipids levels are high?
Higher lipid measures or unfavorable particle features—like many LDL particles, elevated ApoB, high triglycerides, small dense LDL, or raised Lp(a) and ceramides—are associated with greater circulating atherogenic potential and metabolic strain. Elevated values often appear with inflammation or insulin resistance, but their significance depends on the whole panel and individual clinical context. Results are interpreted as patterns and risk factors rather than a single definitive outcome.
Why is Lipids included in the Cardio Zoomer?
Lipids are central to the Cardio Zoomer because they reveal both the burden and behavior of circulating fats. Combined with inflammation, metabolic, endothelial, oxidative stress, and genetic markers, detailed lipid data help clinicians distinguish drivers of risk and tailor monitoring and prevention strategies based on each person’s biological pattern.
