What is Omega-3 Index and why is it important?
The Omega‑3 Index is a blood measure that shows how much of two key omega‑3 fats, EPA and DHA, are built into red blood cell membranes. Because those fats stay in membranes for weeks to months, the index gives a more stable picture of recent fatty‑acid exposure than a single meal. Providers use it to help understand patterns tied to inflammation, blood‑cell behavior, and vascular biology within the larger test panel.
What does it mean if my Omega-3 Index levels are low?
Lower values suggest less EPA and DHA in cell membranes. In observational studies, low indexes are often associated with higher inflammatory marker patterns and differing lipid or vascular profiles. Low results are a piece of information to be interpreted alongside other Cardio Zoomer markers and clinical factors rather than a standalone conclusion.
What does it mean if my Omega-3 Index levels are high?
