Overview and History
ANGPTL4 encodes angiopoietin‑like 4, a secreted protein in the angiopoietin‑like family that modulates lipid metabolism and vascular biology. Biochemically, ANGPTL4 can inhibit lipoprotein lipase (LPL), affecting how triglyceride-rich particles are cleared, and it has roles in angiogenesis, vascular permeability, and inflammation.
rs2967605 is a single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) at the ANGPTL4 locus that has appeared in genetic association studies linking variation in this region to differences in lipid measures and metabolic traits.
