What is Creatinine and Why Does the Cardio Zoomer Test for It?

Muscle metabolism waste marker
Creatinine is a small molecule formed from creatine metabolism in muscle and removed from the body by the kidneys. Measuring serum and urine creatinine gives insight into how effectively the body clears metabolic waste and helps interpret kidney-related contributions to cardiovascular and metabolic risk when viewed alongside other Cardio Zoomer markers.

Creatinine FAQs

What is Creatinine and why is it important?
Creatinine is a byproduct of normal muscle energy use that ends up in the blood and urine. Because its production is fairly steady for each person, changes in its level often reflect how well the body is clearing waste. That information helps clinicians understand elimination, muscle-related differences, and how other cardiovascular markers should be interpreted.
What does it mean if my Creatinine levels are low?
Lower-than-average creatinine often reflects lower muscle mass, recent low protein or creatine intake, pregnancy, or a greater dilution of blood from higher fluid volumes. Lab timing and sample handling can also affect results. Low values are best interpreted alongside other Cardio Zoomer markers and clinical information to understand the overall pattern.
What does it mean if my Creatinine levels are high?
Higher creatinine can indicate that the body is clearing metabolic waste less efficiently relative to production, which may be associated with reduced kidney filtration, dehydration, recent heavy exercise, or increased muscle mass. Certain medications and acute changes in health can also raise levels. Elevated results should be evaluated with urine measurements and the rest of the Cardio Zoomer profile for accurate interpretation.
Why is Creatinine included in the Cardio Zoomer?
Creatinine helps define how effectively the body removes metabolic waste and contextualizes other cardiovascular and metabolic markers. Including it allows providers to separate signals driven by elimination or muscle mass from those driven by inflammation, lipid behavior, or endothelial function, improving precision in risk assessment and individualized care planning.
