Overview and History
Anti-CV2 is an IgG autoantibody that recognizes CRMP5 (collapsin response mediator protein 5), a cytoplasmic protein expressed in neurons. CRMP5 plays a role in neuronal structure, growth cone guidance, and intracellular signaling that support normal neural connectivity.
Anti-CV2 was identified during research into neural-directed immune responses and is detected in clinical labs using immunoassays that measure antibody binding to the CRMP5 target. Its presence is used as a laboratory marker of immune reactivity to intracellular neuronal components rather than a direct measure of function.
Interpreting Highs and Lows
Elevated Anti-CV2 levels suggest measurable immune recognition of the intracellular neural protein CRMP5 and may reflect an immune process involving neural tissues. Such elevations are a signal to interpret alongside symptoms, imaging, and other panel markers to understand whether neuroimmune activity may be relevant.
Low or undetectable Anti-CV2 levels mean this specific antibody was not measured at detectable levels in the sample. A low result does not exclude other immune activity or non-immune causes; interpretation should rely on the full Neural Zoomer profile and the clinical context.
