Overview and History
DPPX (also referred to as DPP6) is a single-pass membrane protein in the dipeptidyl-peptidase family that functions as an auxiliary subunit for Kv4 A-type potassium channels. By modifying channel trafficking and gating, DPPX helps shape neuronal firing patterns and responses to input.
Antibodies that target DPPX have been described in clinical reports as markers of immune reactivity against this neuronal component. Detecting anti-DPPX provides a laboratory signal that immune processes may be interacting with channel proteins involved in neural excitability and gut–brain signaling.
Interpreting Highs and Lows
Elevated anti-DPPX antibody levels may reflect measurable immune reactivity directed at the DPPX protein, a pattern that has been observed alongside changes in neuronal excitability, cognitive or sensory complaints, and autonomic or gastrointestinal features. Low or undetectable anti-DPPX levels generally mean the antibody was not measurable in the sample at that time; this does not exclude other immune mechanisms, fluctuating antibody levels, or contributions from different markers. Interpretation should rely on the full Neural Zoomer profile, clinical history, and other diagnostic information.
