Overview and History
Anti-Endothelin A receptor antibodies belong to the class of autoantibodies that recognize G protein–coupled receptors on vascular and perivascular cells. The targeted receptor, ETAR, binds endothelin-1 and is a key regulator of vasoconstriction, endothelial signaling, and vascular reactivity in both peripheral and cerebral vessels.
Clinically, antibodies to vascular receptors including ETAR have been reported in settings of vascular inflammation and immune-mediated vascular dysfunction. Studying anti-ETAR contributes biological insight into how immune responses may interact with vascular signaling, endothelial behavior, and the neurovascular unit.
Interpreting Highs and Lows
Elevated anti-ETAR levels may indicate immune recognition of a vascular signaling receptor and could be associated with altered vascular reactivity, endothelial signaling changes, or immune activity near the blood–brain barrier. Low or undetectable levels generally reflect an absence of measurable antibody to ETAR but do not exclude other forms of neuroimmune or vascular involvement. Interpretation is most informative when combined with other Neural Zoomer markers (e.g., blood–brain barrier, inflammatory, and vascular-targeted antibodies) and clinical findings.
