Anti-NSE is an autoantibody directed against neuron-specific enolase (ENO2), the gamma isoform of the enolase family. Enolases are glycolytic enzymes that catalyze a step in glucose metabolism; ENO2 is highly expressed in neurons and some neuroendocrine cells.
