Proteinase 3 (PR3) is a serine protease encoded by the PRTN3 gene and stored in azurophilic granules of neutrophils and monocytes. It participates in proteolytic processing during immune responses and can appear on the cell surface when neutrophils are activated. Autoantibodies that target PR3 are commonly measured as PR3-ANCA and are immunoglobulins directed against this neutrophil protein.
